BCCI has announced that as many as 1122 cricketers have been registered for the upcoming auctions of the Indian Premier League auction which is expected to be taking place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore.
England’s Test skipper Joe Root also tried his luck for the auctions along with a total of 282 overseas players hoping to earn a contract. A total of 26 players from England, 58 from Australia, 30 from New Zealand and 57 from South Africa have registered for the auction. Afghanistan too will see 13 players on the list while there are as many as 39 players from Sri Lanka and as many players from Windies as well.
Mitchell Starc also has entered the auction that also includes Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes, Chris Lynn, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, Dwayne Bravo, Carlos Brathwaite, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder.
Hashim Amla, Kagiso Rabada, Faf du Plessis and Morne Morkel are the few from teh rainbow nation. The in-form Glenn Maxwell, Shane Watson, who was pondering calling time on his IPL career last year, too have entered the race with Mitchell Johnson, who has retired from international cricket but continues to play Big Bash League.
Lasith Malinga also will be part of the auction apart from his Sri Lanka mates Angelo Mathews and Niroshan Dickwella.
The full list has already been sent out to the eight franchises. There are a total of 281 capped players, 838 uncapped players, which also comprises of 778 Indian players, apart from three players from Associate nations.
