Jos Buttler received the man-of-the-match award for his unbeaten knock of 106 that helped Rajasthan Royals (RR) to register a comfortable win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 7 wickets and reach the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 final, where they will be locking horns with Gujarat Titans (GT).
Jos Buttler has been in sensational form this season – during his heroics on Friday, he became the second player after Virat Kohli to score 4 centuries in an IPL season and the third after Kohli and David Warner to breach the 800-run mark in a single season. Buttler has his eyes set on RR’s second IPL title. The first had been won in 2008 under the captaincy of Shane Warne who died of a heart attack earlier in the year. After the Royals reached the IPL final for the second time, Jos Buttler paid a heartfelt tribute to Shane Warne.

During a chat on Star Sports, Jos Buttler said, “Great excitement to be able to play in the final of the biggest T20 tournament in the world…it’s incredibly exciting. Shane Warne has been such an influential figure for Rajasthan Royals and has led the team to the title in the first season. We will miss him dearly but we know he is looking down on us with a lot of pride today.”
Jos Buttler has been on fire for the Royals this summer. In Qualifier 1, he played a fiery knock of 89 before being run out and then followed it up with his fourth century in IPL 2022. The English star said he had come to the tournament with low expectations but added that he had a lot of energy.

Talking about the same, Jos Buttler said, “I came to the season with very low expectations but a lot of energy. It is very exciting to stand in the final. I had a season of two halves, and had very honest conversations with people really close to me. I was feeling the pressure midway, and it was only about a week ago that I opened up about it. It helped me and I went to Kolkata with a freer mind.”
Jos Buttler has so far scored 824 runs at an average of 58.86 including 4 centuries and as many half-centuries with one match still left.
