Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been making a name for themselves in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Under the captaincy of Sanju Samson, RR is currently third in the league table with four wins in six matches. Royals’ opening batter Jos Buttler has been in incredible form since the beginning of the season and he is the leading run-scorer in the tournament with a tally of 375 runs including two centuries.
Among bowlers, the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin have also shined for the side, as the Royals look the team to beat this season. Ahead of the tournament, there were significant eyeballs on the prospect of Buttler and Ashwin sharing the dressing room, thanks to their rather rough history in the tournament. In IPL 2019, R Ashwin had run Buttler out in the middle of his bowling stride.

While both players have been pretty consistent with their performances for RR so far, Jos Buttler still remains fairly against running out a batter at the non-striker’s end in the bowling stride. During a recent conversation on ESPNCricinfo, Buttler was asked if he captained Ashwin, would he have allowed the off-spinner to use ‘Mankad’ – to which the English star replied, “No.”

Funnily, when the interviewer further asked if Ashwin would listen to Buttler, the Royals star said, “No” before bursting into laughter.

Earlier in the interview, Jos Buttler also answered a query about who would be his dream opening partner from the past and the current era. He went on to pick Sir Viv Richards from the past while from the current era he picked the Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper, Jos Buttler. Interestingly, Buttler had played a couple of seasons for MI (2016 and 2017).
