Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are locking horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the eighth match of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After winning the toss, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first, factoring in the potential influence of dew later in the game.

On the second ball of the over, Hazlewood generated extra bounce, rushing Rahul Tripathi, who attempted a pull shot but couldn’t extend his arms fully. The ball lobbed off the splice of the bat and landed straight into the hands of the midwicket fielder, sending Tripathi back early.

Hazlewood struck again on the final ball of the over, dismissing CSK skipper Gaikwad. The Australian pacer delivered a rising length ball outside off, catching Gaikwad off guard. His attempted pull resulted in a top-edge that soared into the night sky before Manoj Bhandage completed a composed catch. Virat Kohli celebrated the moment, jumping onto Hazlewood in delight.

Earlier in the innings, Rajat Patidar played a vital knock, helping RCB approach the 200-run mark after Phil Salt’s fiery start was cut short by MS Dhoni’s lightning-quick glovework. Noor Ahmad starred with three wickets, while late cameos from Padikkal, Jitesh Sharma, and Tim David propelled RCB to a solid total. Despite Kohli’s uncharacteristically slow 31 off 30 balls, RCB won’t be too disappointed with their total. Can CSK make it two home wins in a row? Stay tuned for the chase!
