Josh Inglis lit up the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday (June 1) with a fearless counterattack, taking none other than Jasprit Bumrah to the cleaners during IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. Chasing a daunting target of 204, Punjab Kings were under early pressure after losing the explosive Prabhsimran Singh in just the third over.

The opener, who’s been in sublime touch this season, fell cheaply when he top-edged a short delivery from Trent Boult. Positioned perfectly at short fine leg, Reece Topley sprinted back and completed a brilliant running catch to give Mumbai an early breakthrough.
But before Mumbai could capitalise on that momentum, Josh Inglis turned the tide in Punjab’s favour — and in some style. Facing one of the world’s most feared bowlers, Inglis launched a calculated assault on Jasprit Bumrah in the fifth over. The Australian wicketkeeper-batter didn’t hold back, dispatching Bumrah for 20 runs in the over and putting PBKS firmly back in the contest.

Inglis began the over with a crisp boundary, followed by a dot ball. The third delivery disappeared into the stands for a six, and after another dot, Inglis finished strong with a four and another six, sending a clear message — he wasn’t going to be intimidated.
Pressure? What pressure? 😏

That burst of aggression not only brought Punjab’s 50 up but also injected momentum into their innings. However, the joy was short-lived as Ashwani Kumar struck in the next over, dismissing Priyansh Arya with his first delivery of the sixth. At the 11-over mark, PBKS were 102/3 with Inglis unbeaten on 37 and skipper Shreyas Iyer on 7.
