Reece Topley delivered a standout moment in the field on Sunday (June 1), taking a sensational catch to dismiss Prabhsimran Singh during the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After being put in to bat, Mumbai Indians posted an imposing 203/6 in their 20 overs.

Although none of their batters reached a half-century, it was a well-rounded effort with key contributions from multiple players. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav led the charge, both scoring 44 runs, while Jonny Bairstow added a brisk 38 at the top. Naman Dhir’s explosive 19-ball 37 at the death gave Mumbai the finishing push.
For Punjab Kings, Afghan pacer Azmatullah Omarzai emerged as the most effective bowler with figures of 2/43. In reply, Punjab Kings needed a steady start, but Mumbai struck early, thanks to Reece Topley’s athletic brilliance.

In the third over of the chase, Prabhsimran Singh attempted to pull a short delivery from Trent Boult but only managed a top-edge. The ball looped behind the stumps toward short fine leg, where Topley sprinted in, kept his eyes glued to the ball, and completed a superb two-handed catch while on the move.

The dismissal of Prabhsimran, known for his aggressive starts, was a significant early blow for Punjab. At the time of writing, PBKS were 70 for 2 in the seventh over, with opener Priyansh Arya unbeaten on 20 and Josh Inglis batting on 13. Both Arya and Inglis had previously scored fifties against Mumbai in the league stage, and Punjab will be banking on the duo to anchor the innings and keep their dream of a maiden IPL final appearance alive.
