In a dramatic moment during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025, Chepauk Super Gillies opener K Aashiq’s bat broke mid-shot and went flying perilously close to the bowler. The incident unfolded during the powerplay of the clash between Chepauk Super Gillies and Nellai Royal Kings at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore on June 9.

Right-arm pacer Emmanuel Cherian delivered a length ball to Aashiq, who attempted a shot over long-on. However, the force of the ball caused the bat to split in two, with a chunk of it flying toward the bowler in a potentially dangerous moment. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the ball trickled to extra cover, where Arun Karthik fielded it.

Aparajith played a classy knock, scoring 41 off 29 before falling to left-arm spinner Sachin Rathi.
