India and South Africa locked horns with each other in the second game of the five-match ODI series at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. In the first innings, India’s stand-in skipper, Rishabh Pant lost his wicket while attempting to play an extravagant shot on a well-planned delivery from Keshav Maharaj.
Earlier, after winning the toss, the visiting skipper, Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bowl first because of the unpredictability of the conditions. While India made no changes to their playing XI despite the loss in the opening game, South Africa had to make some forced changes as Quinton de Kock suffered an injury and Henrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs replaced him made way for Reeza Hendricks.

Unlike the last match, the visitors got to a good start as they got Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first over itself. But Ishan Kishan continued his good form as he smashed 34 runs off 21 balls but eventually got dismissed, by Anrich Nortje. That brought Rishabh Pant to the crease.
Pant was dismissed for just 5 runs off 7 balls and it left India reeling at 68-3 inside the first 10 overs. Maharaj was astute with his ball and as Rishabh Pant tried to go after him on the first ball, he only managed to chip the ball towards the sweeper cover fielder as Maharaj bowled the ball way outside off stump.

Rishabh Pant stepped out but was caught off guard by the wide line. This was a huge wicket for South Africa, and their camp was ecstatic. The wicket could prove to be quite useful for SA as Maharaj may be able to bowl the rest of his overs with a bit of ease.
