Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has shared that cricket should not need umpire anymore as the standards of umpiring have come into limelight after a mistake in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. He, however, explained on Twitter why he said that.

Earlier, the England & Wales Cricket Board had informed about the 100 balls competition which will be launched in the year 2020. The format, however, will be comprised of ten 10-ball overs, which one or two bowlers will bowl, in the grasp of either five or ten consecutive balls. Meanwhile, the idea has been taken up as a prospect at club level in the Midlands; where Warwickshire teams will take part in the 100-ball competition, as early as possible in 2019. Meanwhile, it was introduced as part of the five-year strategy for the game of England Cricket board.

ECB chief executive Tom Harrison had said, “The game has made huge progress this year, through collaboration, constructive debate and a volume of detailed discussion. The outcomes for all of this combined work are vital for the growth and sustainability of cricket, at all levels, in England and Wales,”

However, on the other hand, Kevin Pietersen also thinks that it would be great to carry to play without the umpires. He further added that technology is good enough to take over umpires altogether.
