Ahead of their IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) star Virat Kohli were the focus of attention, not just for their on-field performances, but also for a heartwarming moment during the warm-ups. As the two stars crossed paths, they shared a hug and a laugh, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.

The crowd’s enthusiasm peaked as they began chanting “Kohli, Kohli,” playfully teasing Rahul, creating a viral moment that had fans buzzing on social media. On to the game itself, KL Rahul’s outing with the bat was far from spectacular. Walking in at number four, Rahul struggled to find his rhythm against the RCB bowlers.

Despite facing several balls, he only managed a scratchy 41 runs off 39 balls. With a strike rate just above 100, his innings included only three boundaries, reflecting his struggle to get going. While Rahul couldn’t capitalise on his start, other Delhi batters also faced difficulties in building significant partnerships.

Abishek Porel (28) and Faf du Plessis (22) tried to give Delhi a solid foundation, but once they were dismissed, the team faltered. It was left to Tristan Stubbs to provide some late fireworks. His quickfire 34 runs off just 18 balls, including five boundaries and a six, gave Delhi Capitals a fighting chance.

His aggressive knock lifted Delhi’s total to 162/8, a score that still seemed below par on a pitch that offered some assistance to the bowlers. Despite the late surge, Delhi’s total left much to be desired, and they would need a strong bowling effort to defend it against a potent RCB batting lineup.
