On Sunday, it was not surprising to see MS Dhoni unbeaten at the end the innings when India thrashed Sri Lanka in the 5th ODI and completed a whitewash in the ODI series.

However, the surprising thing happened just before the winnings runs were scored when the best finisher gave the baton to Virat Kohli to finish the game off. India needed just 2 runs to win and with Dhoni, at strike and everyone was hoping for a Dhoni style finish. But instead, he took a single and let Kohli score the winning runs in Colombo on Sunday.

Dhoni gave Kohli a smile as he ran towards the non-striker’s end. Kohli also acknowledged with a smile of his own. He then took a single and won the match with 21 balls to spare.

Virat played the match-winning innings of 110 from 116 deliveries and registered his 30th ODI century. Dhoni also clinched the record for being unbeaten in the ODI series. It was also the series where he completed 100 ODI stumpings (another world record) and played his 300th ODI.
