Kohli Urges Countrymen to Follow Modi’s Footsteps

The Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli took to Twitter and shared an important message with his fans and fellow citizens of India. The skipper requested all the citizens of his country to stay alert and follow all the safety measures put in place by the Prime Minister. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the nation in a 30-minute speech and shared his ideologies on how the government plans to tackle the Corona Virus outbreak.

Virat Kohli’s tweet read, “Be alert, attentive and aware to combat the threat posed by Covid 19. We, as responsible citizens, need to adhere to the norms put in place for our safety as announced by our Honourable Prime Minister Shri @NarendraModi ji. #IndiaFightsCorona.”

The Delhite did not forget to thank and mention the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals across the country who are working tirelessly and helping people recover from Corona Virus.

“Also, special mention to all the medical professionals in the country and around the globe for all the efforts being put in to fight the #CoronaVirus. Let’s support them by taking care of ourselves and everybody around us by maintaining good personal hygiene. #IndiaFightsCorona,” Kohli tweeted.

PM Narendra Modi in his 8 pm speech on 19th March announced a ‘Janata Curfew’ on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Prime Minister urged his citizens to follow the Curfew and not to leave their houses until absolutely necessary.

With the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic across the globe, it has lead to halting or postponement of many major sporting events across the globe. With sporting events places of mass gatherings, many events have been canceled or postponed to avoid the further spread of the virus.

The Indian Cricket team’s ODI series against the Proteas had to be canned to avoid the spread of China originated virus. India’s apex cricketing board, the BCCI was also forced to shift and reschedule India’s premier cricketing event, the IPL. Initially scheduled to begin on 29 March, the star-studded mega-event will now begin around April 15.
