During the first match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Mumbai, Krunal Pandya took on Mark Wood as he hit 17 runs in Wood’s last over to make sure that Mumbai Indians post a decent total on the board. In their allotted quota of 20 overs, Indians ended up scoring 165-4 in 20 overs.

On the second delivery of the penultimate over, Krunal Pandya took the opportunity to hit a powerful drive down the ground. With the mid-off up in the circle, the ball ended up reaching the boundary within no time. On the following delivery, Wood failed to bowl the yorker one more time. Krunal Pandya didn’t fail in his job to hit the ball for a boundary. He once again hit the ball straight between the bowler and the long-off. The fact that the mid-off fielder was put back on the boundary threw enough light on the manner in which the ball was hit.

Krunal Pandya finished the innings well for CSK.

Struggling with his length throughout the over, Wood bowled the last ball of the over as a short ball down the leg side to Krunal Pandya. Krunal Pandta took on the opportunity to hit the ball over the boundary rope on the terrace for his second six.

It was Dwayne Bravo’s excellent last over which saw Indians score a paltry five runs off it. The Caribbean all-rounder was pinpoint with his yorkers, thus giving no chance for the batsmen to hit against him.

Krunal Pandya ended up socring 41* (22) with the help fo five fours and two sixes. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya struggled his way to 22* (20) with the help of two fours.

Mark Wood, who made his IPL debut today, proved out to be expensive for the Chennai Super Kings. He bowled his full quota of four overs, conceding 49 runs without picking up a wicket.
