It was a like a hitting competition between the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Pandya brothers against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as when Hardik got gout Krunal came out all guns blazing. The spin-bowling all-rounder came out to bat in the final over and smashed Siddarth Kaul for 20 runs on the four deliveries that he faced in the final over to take the defending champions total to 5-208 in 20 overs.

Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya had come in to bat in the 20th over after his brother Hardik Pandya was dismissed courtesy a brilliant yorker by Siddarth Kaul. But Kaul failed to those yorkers in the next four balls of the over and Kunal cashed on it big time.

The first delivery that the southpaw faced was a length ball and it was duly slogged over the long-on boundary. Kaul resorted to bowling yorkers on the next two balls but failed to execute well and ended up bowling some juicy low full-tosses, only for Krunal to smash them at long-on and wide extra-cover for consecutive fours.

And, to hit the final nail in the coffin, Krunal Pandya once again slogged Siddarth Kaul for yet another six over long-on to finish with an unbeaten 4-ball 20, paving way for MI to eventually end up with 5-208. Pandya ended up maintaining a humongous strike-rate of 500- the highest by any batsman who has faced a minimum of 3 balls. Eventually, MI won the match by as many as 34 runs despite a brilliant half-century from David Warner.

It has happened for the first time in IPL 2020 that a team that batted at Sharjah failed to surpass the tally of the 200-run mark.
