After defeating Australia at their home, the Indian cricket team is the currently locking horns with New Zealand in the series opener of the 5-match series at the McLean Park, in Napier. The veteran Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami made early inroads for India as he dismissed both the Kiwi openers under first five overs. However, it was the diving catch of Kuldeep Yadav which stole the show despite not being known as the best of Indian fielders.
Earlier, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli lost the toss in the batting friendly conditions as the home skipper Kane Williamson asked the visitors to bowl first. His decision was backfired as Shami dismissed both the openers. As compared to final ODI against Australia, India made two changes to their squad for the Napier ODI as Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja made way for Amabati Rayudu and Kuldeep Yadav.
The mystery chinaman grabbed a fine catch at short mid-wicket to dismiss Henry Nicholls. Kuldeep jumped to his right side and took a good diving catch. Nicholls flicked the last ball of the 24th over bowled by Kedar Jadhav towards the mid-wicket only to get dismissed after scoring 12 runs. Kedar had bowled a slow length ball dipping at leg stump. The ball was whistling past Kuldeep as he sticks both hands out and takes it behind himself, which gave the perfect testimony of his agility.

It was an important wicket for the visitors as Nicholls had scored a brilliant knock of 124 runs off just 80 balls in the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka.

However, the New Zealand team was bundled out for a meager score of 157 with Kuldeep taking four wickets for India and only Williamson managed to score a half-century, but it was insufficient to make an impact.
