Legendary Pakistan Bowler Happy to see PSL Shut Down

Former Pakistan captain and legendary pacer Wasim Akram took to social media platform Twitter and shared his views on PSL and Corona Virus. Akram is hoping that the world will get back up stronger and stand together in the moment of crisis.  Wasim made the comments soon after the current season of Pakistan Super League was called off on Tuesday. Pakistan Cricket Board decided to close the curtains due to the spread of pandemic coronavirus outbreak across the globe.

 

“I personally want to thank all involved, including overseas and local players, for their exceptional contribution to our beloved PSL and as we send everyone back home to their respective families may we grant them safety and pray to Allah that the world gets back on its feet soon,” Akram said in a tweet.

Earlier on, the Pakistan Cricket Board had already shortened its duration during the knockout stages of the tournament. They were scheduled to complete a four-day playoff in a 2 days knockout affair.  It is reported that so far, 184 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan.

Former Pakistan skipper turned broadcaster Ramiz Raja has revealed that Karachi Kings and England opener Alex Hales has shown symptoms of Corona Virus and has thus flown back to his home country.

Shoaib Akhtar shared a video on his YouTube channel where he is seen saying,  “We are going to stand tall with other nations and with the world,” said former pacer Shoaib Akhtar on his YouTube channel. This is an international calamity. We need to ensure there is no human loss. We need to fight it together. Through PSL, the message was that Pakistan is a safe haven,” he added.

Former captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi also took to twitter and expressed his thoughts on PSL getting called off. HE said that the health and safety of players should always an issue of primary concern under such situations.

Afridi tweeted “Sad to see the PSL end, but health and safety of all concerned is the key, esp those who are traveling back to their homes. Perhaps the decision could have been taken earlier, with regard to the trophy…well the table-topper should be handed the trophy?”

Pakistan’s cricket board was also forced to cancel its ICC World Test Championship match against Bangladesh. The coronavirus pandemic has affected over 170 people in Pakistan and killed over 7,000 people across the world.
