In the eleventh match of the Indian Premier League 2024, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Ekana Stadium. However, PBKS encountered an early setback as Liam Livingstone sustained a hamstring injury while fielding at deep mid-wicket, forcing him to retire hurt.

LSG won the toss and elected to bat, hoping to take advantage of the pitch conditions. Despite the promising start, losing captain KL Rahul early on followed by Devdutt Padikkal hindered their progress. Sam Curran and Arshdeep Singh capitalized on the conditions, taking a wicket each during the powerplay for PBKS.

LSG currently occupies the bottom spot in the points table, having lost their opening match against Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs. In contrast, PBKS sits in the fifth position with one win and one loss in their two matches.

A noteworthy moment occurred during the toss when Nicholas Pooran emerged instead of KL Rahul. Pooran disclosed that Rahul would play as an “Impact Player,” a decision influenced by his ongoing recovery from a quadriceps injury. Rahul’s absence from action extended for two months, resulting in him missing the Test series against England.
