In the much-awaited final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Gujarat Titans (GT) is locking horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 29 (Sunday). GT pacer, Lockie Ferguson was at his best as he was seen steaming in to bowl the fastest ball of the season breaking Umran Malik’s record.

After winning the toss, RR skipper, Sanju Samson decided to bat first citing the scoreboard pressure in a big game. As expected, RR made no changes in their playing XI, but GT skipper, Hardik Pandya informed that they have replaced Alzarri Joseph with Lockie Ferguson in their XI.

GT bowled on tight lines and lengths to restrict the opposition from scoring at a brisk pace. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler opened the batting for their side. However, Jaiswal failed to get going as he could not find his timing early in.

Jaiswal did manage to hit a couple of sixes and a boundary before being dismissed for 22 from 16. Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson tried making a partnership when an incident sent fans on the internet into a tizzy. It was the final ball of the 4th over when Lockie Ferguson who was bowling a fiery over, churned out the fastest ball of the Indian Premier League.

Jos Buttler was on strike when Lockie Ferguson bowled a ball that was at 157.3kmph which was just short of yorker length and beat the orange cap holder. Fans on the internet went wild as Ferguson broke Umran Malik’s record of 157kmph.
