GT bowled on tight lines and lengths to restrict the opposition from scoring at a brisk pace. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler opened the batting for their side. However, Jaiswal failed to get going as he could not find his timing early in.

Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson tried making a partnership when an incident sent fans on the internet into a tizzy. It was the final ball of the 4th over when Lockie Ferguson who was bowling a fiery over, churned out the fastest ball of the Indian Premier League.
