During the fifth match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai, Chris Lynn failed to make an impact for the second time in a row as he failed to convert his start into a substantial innings.

After being put in to bat by MS Dhoni, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a fiery start as the trio of Sunil Narine, Lynn and Robin Uthappa didn’t hamper the strike rates. After losing Narine in the second over, Lynn was expected to play for a longer duration of time in a bid to not put too much pressure on the middle order.

Lynn, who got out on 5 in the previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Kolkata, reached the double digits this time but couldn’t take the momentum forward. Lynn scored a boundary each against Deepak Chahar, Shane Watson, Imran Tahir to start his innings.

On the second delivery of the sixth over, he had pre-planned to step down the wicket in a bid to send Jadeja out of the park. Missing the ball completely, the sight of the ball crashing his leg stump wouldn’t have pleased him so much. In his brief stay at the crease, he ended up scoring 22 (16) with the help of four fours.
