Mahmudullah is hopeful on team’s performances in Asia Cup

Bangladesh cricketer Mahmudullah is hopeful that the nation will put the strong performance in the upcoming 2018 Asia Cup in United Arab Emirates (UAE), starting from September 15.

Two-time Asia Cup runners-up (including the T20 Asia Cup) Bangladesh is in the Group B in 2018 Asia Cup with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Bangladesh will play the opening game of the tournament against Sri Lanka on this Saturday.

Prior to the opening game of the tournament, Mahmudullah said, “I think we have got some good past memories against Sri Lanka from a few months back, but Sri Lanka is a very good team, and they are playing very good cricket and we have to be at our best to beat them. We have been preparing quite well, so hopefully we can deliver.”

Under Mashrafe Mortaza’s captaincy, Bangladesh seems a very good challenging team in this tournament. Like many other cricketers, Mahmudullah has an important role in this team which he wants to play successfully as much as he can.

The 32-year-old said, “It always feels good to contribute to the team if the team is winning it feels even better, I will try to keep it simple and try and contribute as much as I can.”

Mahmudullah also believes that every participating team in the upcoming tournament are in form and they want to move ahead in the competition game by game.

The Bangladeshi cricketer said, “To be honest, I think all the teams are playing very good cricket at the moment, every team is very important and we can’t afford to be relaxed, and we need to take it game by game so that we can do well in the first stage.”

As many Bangladeshi live in UAE, Mahmudullah expects a good number of crowds will come in the grounds to support them in this tournament.

He signed off, “Hopefully we are going to get a really good crowd here because plenty of Bangladeshis live here, and we hope they will come out and support us and we hope to deliver some good results for them.”
