Makers Of 83′ Announce To Make A Biopic On Lalit Modi

Vishnu Vardhan Induri has produced a lot of inspirational movies, including ’83’ which is based on the Triumphant journey of Team India to win their maiden World Cup triumph. His next movie will be around the book ‘Maverick Commissioner’ written by renowned sports journalist Boria Majumdar on the Lalit Modi – IPL saga. The book is set to be published by Simon & Schuster India on May 20.

The inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played in 2008 with eight franchises and the concept was introduced by Lalit Modi, the former chairman and commissioner of the cash-rich league. The tournament has grown into a great success story since then, making Team India one of the powerhouses in world cricket. A lot of talented cricketers have been identified from various parts of the country and they have been able to make it to the Indian team through their performances in the tournament.

Tweeting about the same, Vishnu Induri wrote: ‘Winning the 83 World Cup was the tip of the iceberg. Elated to announce that we are adapting this book into a feature film.@SimonSchusterIN”.

Vishnu Induri mentioned that the book tells the story of a lot about how the IPL has made a big impact in the lives of Indian people and the way it has transformed into one of the world’s biggest cricket tournaments. He added the movie will highlight the fact that the IPL is more than just a sport in India.

As per the quotes in Deccan Chronicle, he added, “Formation of the biggest cricket league in the world, IPL has changed the cricketing world forever. The book is a fascinating account of the creation of the world’s biggest cricketing carnival, IPL. It also features insights about the man who was responsible for the show, Lalit Modi.”

He further added, “We all are passionate about the game! While 83 was all about depicting history, IPL will be about showcasing how the game has turned into something more than a sport.”
