The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli is rated as one of the best batsmen across the globe in international cricket. However, he has worked a lot on his game to reach the glory as he struggled his way out during the early phase of his career in the longer format and was on the verge of getting dropped from the national squad. But, it was MS Dhoni, who showed his faith over Kohli and rest is history.
During that time, former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar was one of the few, who supported the decision of the former Indian skipper on social media. Now, Manjrekar has cherished his 9-year-old tweet saying that he is feeling proud to be on the same page with Dhoni eight years ago.
After the departure of some experienced players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, it was a difficult task for anyone to fill their void in the Indian team. Kohli unarguably transformed his game and went onto become the most crucial cog of the Indian batting line-up.

Now, he is currently the number one batsman in ODIs and Tests. However, his beginning in Test cricket was as dodgy as it can get as he went to the tour of Australia where he registered scores of 11,0,23 and 9 in the first two matches of the 2011-12 Border Gavaskar Trophy. As a result, the cricketing fraternity demanded to drop Virat owing to his woeful form. However, Dhoni offered him another opportunity and he played a knock of 44 runs and 75 runs in the 3rd Test followed by his superb century in the final Test.
After that series, there was no looking back for Kohli and went on to become one of the finest and exciting cricketers in world cricket. During Kohli’s 1st year in Test cricket, Sanjay Manjrerkar had shared his views in a tweet eight years ago, that read, “I would still drop VVS & get Rohit in for next test. Makes long term sense. give Virat 1 more test..just to be sure he does not belong here.” However, a fan quoted it as the best tweet of the decade.

Later on, Manjrekar replied with a cherishing tweet saying, “Very proud of that tweet. In his 1st year in Tests, after scores of 11,0,23,9 in Aus, I remember, fans/media saying Virat does not belong here & had his neck on the chopping block for the next Test. I said give him 1 more Test to be sure. Glad Dhoni & me were on the same page,”.
