Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) failed to open their account still in the 12th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). They had lost to Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals; who won by 4 wickets. This is Bangalore’s sixth consecutive defeat. Earlier, they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders after scoring a huge total of 205. Clearly, their plans are not working properly. On Sunday, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field first. Asked to bat first, Bangalore managed to put up a total of 149 for 8. Kagiso Rabada; who helped Delhi to win over Kolkata by bowling a brilliant super over, bowled again a terrific spell and picked up 4 wickets.
While chasing, Delhi Capitals chased down the total with 7 balls to spare. Though their chase started with Shikhar Dhawan’s dismissal, Prithvi Shaw and Iyer then added 69-run before Shaw’s dismissal. Colin Ingram (22) and Rishabh Pant (18) played quickfire knocks while Iyer scored a half-century. Later, Axar Patel finished the chase with a boundary in the 19th over.

As Bangalore’s qualification for the playoff seems difficult, former England batsman Michael Vaughan advised regarding the World Cup. As the World Cup around the corner, Vaughan expressed that India should rest Virat Kohli now, writing, “If India are smart they rest @imVkohli now for the World Cup … Give him some time off before the big event … #IPL2019”

“The key is to take it easy, relax. Whatever is front of us it is in front of us, we can’t change the situation. If we stop enjoying, the rest of the games will also be suffering. We want to enjoy ourselves as a team and come out and play expressive cricket,” Virat Kohli said after the game.
