New Zealand registered a thrashing 8-wicket win over India and pulled off a win in the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) title at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday. With just three runs needed for the win, Ross Taylor smashed Mohammed Shami towards the square-leg fence for a boundary to wrap up the win for New Zealand.

It was another heartbreak for the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli under whom India suffered another defeat in a big ICC knockout game.  Speaking of the bitter loss after the game, Kohli talked about the need for a minimum of three-Test series in the future to decide the winners of the WTC Final.

Virat Kohli had said, “I am not in absolute agreement of deciding the best Test side in the world over the course of one game. If it is a Test series, it has to be a test of character over three Tests – which team has the ability to come back in the series or totally blow away the other team.”

Kohli’s statement became a hot topic of discussion and now the former England skipper, Michael Vaughan became the latest person to comment on it.

Reacting to Kohli’s views on Twitter, Vaughan wrote, “Where in the schedule would it fit in ?? Are the IPL going to reduce the year of the final tournament by 2 weeks so it could fit in ? Doubt it ..: Finals are one off games where teams/individuals know they have to deliver … that’s what makes them so great.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Test team will now be locking horns with England in a five-match Test series. Virat Kohli’s men defeated the Three Lions at home earlier this year and would like to replicate their heroics again. At the same time, Joe Root and his men would be raring to settle the scores.
