Former England captain Michael Vaughan reckons that Team India has found a new superstar in Prithvi Shaw. The 18-year old batsman scored a century on his Test match debut and thus Michael Vaughan is impressed by Shaw. In fact, the little prodigy from Mumbai has given the right testimony of being the future of Indian cricket. He batted at the top of his game as he looked to attack from the get-go. Thus, the young batsman was able to hit the ground running.
Meanwhile, India’s rookie batsman Prithvi Shaw became the fourth youngest Test centurion on his debut. He joined the likes of Mohammad Ashraful, Hamilton Masakadza and Saleem Malik in the elite list. He took 18 years and 329 days to get his maiden Test century in his maiden appearance for the Indian team. In fact, the young batsman became the second youngest Indian batsman to score a hundred for India.
Sachin Tendulkar is the youngest Indian batsman to score his century when he was just 17 years and 112 days old against England. Meanwhile, Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Ashraful is the youngest to score a hundred on Test debut. The right-hander reached the three figures mark when he was just 17 years and 61 days old.
However, Prithvi Shaw showed great confidence in his maiden Test knock. The right-hander batted in the topmost gear as he has struck 17 boundaries thus far in his innings. The young batsman played the ball right under his eyes and showed no signs of nervousness in his maiden innings. He was dismissed by Devendra Bishoo just before the stroke of the tea session.
Shaw didn’t take any kind of pressure on his shoulders despite playing his first international game. The rookie batsman was well accompanied by Cheteshwar Pujara.
Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to share his thoughts. Vaughan post read as, “Wow .. 18 yrs old @PrithviShaw .. Test 💯 on debut .. Looks like #India have another superstar that has arrived on the scene !!! #INDvWI”.
