Many former cricketers such as legendary Australian pacer, Glenn McGrath and former India fast bowler, Ajit Agarkar have praised the youngster for his performance. On Tuesday, former Australia batsman Mike Hussey has been seen showering praises on Gill and said that his talent is such that he can go on to play for India for the next 10 years.

During a chat with ESPNCricinfo, Mike Hussey said, “Shubman Gill what a classy player. Here’s a player who can play for the next 10 years for India. He looks classical and maybe he should have played the first Test in the first place.”

Shubman Gill became the 297th Test cricketer to debut for India when he was included in the squad for the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After scoring 43 and 65 in the Pink-ball tour game, the fans were expecting Gill to play in the series opener but Prithvi Shaw got the nod over him. Shaw was exposed badly by the Australia fast bowlers and failed miserably in both the innings in Adelaide, ensuring a berth for Gill in the 2nd Test.

Gill has an incredible record in first-class cricket as he maintained a brilliant average of 68.78. He is the second-highest first-class average for a batsman to make India’s Test debut for India. Vinod Kambli averaged 88.37 when he made his debut against England at Eden Gardens in 1993. Hussey also praised the other debutant for India in the Boxing Day Test, Mohammad Siraj.
