Moeen Ali Predicts His Exit From International Cricket

England all-rounder Moeen Ali wants to play as much international cricket as he can in the near future. He feels that he can play international cricket for just another two or three years and desires to play for England across all three formats. Moeen was dropped from the Test during the Ashes last year and hasn’t made a comeback in the longest format.

Ali also featured in the World Cup-winning squad in 2019 but was left out of the playing XI midway through the tournament. He expressed that he wants to play for England as much as he can while he is fit.

During the Doosra Podcast, Moeen said, “Since the whole pandemic thing I want to play as much as I can. Cricket at the highest level will probably finish for me in two or three years. I want to make the most of it and play as much as I can. I only did it (stepping away from international cricket) for a bit of a break, and I’ve had that now.”

England was under tremendous pressure as they were hosting the during the World Cup last year at home. Recalling the times, Moeen Ali acknowledged that they were under immense pressure and also asserted that it was a brilliant time for them as a team.

The all-rounder also recalled the World Cup final and mentioned that it took a few seconds for the players to realize that they’ve won the World Cup.

Ali elaborated: “It was an amazing time. I think the whole emotion of four years build up to it and so much went into it… so much pressure for us to win it at home. It took us couple of seconds to think we have won the game (final). I wasn’t playing the game but it didn’t feel like I wasn’t playing. I can’t describe the feeling but just to see all the guys celebrating and to be part of that journey was simply unbelievable.”
