While Sri Lanka’s cricketers facing difficulties due to the bad air quality and not-so-healthy playing conditions during the Delhi Test, the Indian cricketers seemed undisturbed by the issue, till Mohammed Shami started puking on the field.
Delhi’s smog and air pollution have been the biggest talking point during the third Test between India and Sri Lanka at Feroz Shah Kotla. However, Virat Kohli and his men did not seem too concerned about the issue so far.
When India returned to bat on Tuesday, Sri Lankan players wore pollution masks again. Suranga Lakmal looked faced some serious difficulty and started throwing up soon. He had to go off-field for a while.
After Kohli declared the innings and Sri Lanka took the bat again, Indian bowlers came without the masks and looked composed by pollution but then Shami was seen vomiting.
Just after taking a wicket in the sixth over on Day 4, the Bengal pacer was seen holding his chest and started throwing up. While the reason for Shami’s sickness is not clear, it clearly shifts the focus on Delhi smog.
Ironically, it was Shami who had spoken on Team India’s behalf on Monday, he said, “Obviously this pollution is a problem but it wasn’t as much as it was being shown. It could be that we’re used to it.”
However, Twitterati looked concerned about Shami’s sickness. Here are some tweets:
