Following the game, Team India continued a cherished tradition of awarding a prize medal to the best fielder, a practice that gained popularity during the ODI World Cup 2023, with numerous clips going viral on social media. This time, after the clash against Ireland, India’s fielding coach, T. Dilip, nominated Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Siraj as contenders for the accolade. However, a delightful twist was introduced by the coach.

In a heartwarming gesture, instead of inviting a cricket legend or other coaches to present the medal, the fielding coach chose to offer a young fan a lifetime memory. This young fan was given the unique opportunity to visit Team India’s dressing room and personally award the medal to the winner.

Adding to the excitement, the young fan was accompanied by star leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The young fan also enjoyed a brief but sweet interaction with the in-form Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, during which the fan revealed that his father was a big admirer of Singh. Ultimately, the coveted fielding medal was awarded to the frontline pacer, Mohammed Siraj, by the young fan from New York, making it a memorable occasion.

Revisiting the match details, India and Ireland faced off at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, marking the eighth game of the tournament on Wednesday, June 5. Ireland, having lost the toss, were invited to bat first. Their innings saw Andy Balbirnie and Paul Stirling managing only five and two runs, respectively. Lorcan Tucker added 10 runs, Curtis Campher contributed 12, and Gareth Delany top-scored with 26 runs, leading to a total of 96 runs.

On the bowling front, India’s Hardik Pandya emerged as the highest wicket-taker with three wickets. Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets each, while Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel each took one wicket.
