India have been forced to make a change to their squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England, with fast bowler Mohammed Siraj withdrawn from the 16-member group led by Shreyas Iyer. The BCCI confirmed the decision on Tuesday after discussions with the medical staff and team management.

Prasidh Krishna, who last played a T20I in November 2023, has been named as Siraj’s replacement. In its statement, the BCCI said Siraj has been advised rest as part of a workload management plan. The move is being treated as a precaution to ensure the pacer is fully fit for a busy international calendar ahead.
“Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the team management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season,” the board said.

The right-arm pacer also had a heavy workload in IPL 2026, playing all 17 matches for Gujarat Titans and helping them reach the final, where they finished runners-up after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad.
