Mohammed Siraj Takes A Leap Of 18 Places In The Latest ICC Rankings

The young Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Siraj has taken a leap of 18 places to the 38 on ICC Test Bowling Rankings after his heroics in the Lord’s Test against England. Mohammed Siraj, who made his Test debut in December 2020, is the 8th best Indian bowler on the ICC Test bowling charts.  Siraj was the pick of the bowlers in the 2nd Test against England as the Hyderabad pacer made things happen on a docile Day 5 pitch at Lord’s.

Mohammed Siraj bowled a spell of 4 for 32 as England got bundled out for 120 while chasing 272 in the final innings of a pulsating Test at the iconic venue in London. Siraj finished the Lord’s Test with figures of 8 for 126 as he helped India dominate the England batting attack that looked fragile in the second innings of the Lord’s Test. Siraj’s heroics made sure India take a 1-0 lead in the 5-match series.

Meanwhile, senior fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who has now reached 9th place from the 19th place after his 9-wicket match haul in Nottingham, fell to the 10th spot in the ICC Bowling Rankings after the Lord’s Test. Bumrah was at his fiery best in London and the lower-order batsmen made crucial contributions in India’s 2nd innings. Bumrah and Mohammed Shami added 89 runs for the 9th wicket as they batted England out of the contest on Day 5.

In the ICC Test Batting Rankings, Virat Kohli had managed to retain his 5th place despite ordinary outings so far in the 2 Tests against England. Rohit Sharma retained his 6th spot after hitting 83 in the 2nd Test against England. Rishabh Pant is at the 7th spot while England captain Joe Root moved to the 2nd spot.

On the other hand, R Ashwin continues to be at the 2nd place in ICC Bowling Rankings despite not having played the first couple of  Tests in England. Ravindra Jadeja is at the 3rd spot in ICC Test All-rounder ranking while Ashwin has retained his 4th spot.L
