At 43, MS Dhoni might be in the final stages of his cricketing journey, but even now, his passion for the game remains as fiery as ever. Fondly dubbed ‘Captain Cool’ for his legendary calmness under pressure, Dhoni rarely lets emotions spill over on the field—making Sunday’s moment all the more surprising.

During Chennai Super Kings’ final league match of IPL 2025 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, fans witnessed a rare crack in Dhoni’s composed exterior. While setting the field between overs, the CSK skipper appeared visibly agitated. Instructing his players with sharp gestures, he even let out a few uncharacteristic expletives—a moment that had commentators joking, “Kuch achhe shabd bhi the beech mein,” pointing to the unexpected glimpse of frustration from the usually ice-cool Dhoni.

Despite the emotional flash, Dhoni’s team delivered a clinical performance to close their campaign on a high. Batting first, CSK posted a mammoth total of 230/5, thanks to fifties from Dewald Brevis and Devon Conway. They were well supported by Urvil Patel’s aggressive 37 and Ayush Mhatre’s quick 34.

In response, Gujarat Titans, the table-toppers before the match, faltered under pressure. Their chase never really took off, collapsing to 147 all out in 17.5 overs. The early loss of three wickets inside the powerplay put them on the back foot, and although Sai Sudharsan (41) and Shahrukh Khan tried to steady the innings with a 55-run stand, CSK’s bowlers soon regained control. Once that partnership was broken, GT’s innings crumbled quickly.

Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad starred with the ball, picking up three wickets apiece, sealing an emphatic 83-run win for Chennai. Unfortunately, despite the strong finish, CSK end their IPL 2025 campaign at the bottom of the table, unable to overcome the inconsistency that plagued their season.
