Ravichandran Ashwin and MS Dhoni have reunited once again, bringing back memories of Chennai Super Kings’ glory days as they gear up for the IPL 2025 season. Ashwin, who was an integral part of CSK’s back-to-back title wins in 2010 and 2011, had spent the last decade playing for different franchises. However, his much-anticipated return to the Yellow Brigade finally materialized when CSK secured him for ₹9.75 crore at the IPL 2025 auction.

Now, he finds himself back at the Chepauk, alongside Dhoni and his longtime bowling partner Ravindra Jadeja, as CSK aim for their record-extending sixth IPL title. Preparations for the new season are in full swing, with Dhoni, newly appointed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and other key players arriving at the team’s training base.

On February 27, CSK delighted their fans by sharing a video of Dhoni and Ashwin walking onto the field together, a sight that instantly evoked nostalgia among supporters. The clip served as a reminder of their iconic partnership and the success they shared in the CSK jersey, fueling anticipation for what’s to come in the upcoming season.

Reflecting on his return, Ravichandran Ashwin admitted that the moment transported him back to the 2011 IPL auction when CSK had aggressively bid for him. “Life is a circle. I played for them from 2008 to 2015, and whatever I learned at CSK has taken me this far in international cricket,” he said. “It’s been 10 years since I last played for them, but when I saw CSK fighting for me again in the bidding war, it felt like a trip down memory lane. It’s a very special feeling.”

Ashwin also acknowledged the unwavering support of CSK fans, recalling how they remained respectful even when he played for rival teams. “I’ve seen so many ‘Anbuden Fans’ banners over the years. Even when I played in Chennai for Rajasthan Royals, the CSK crowd never cheered against me. That’s the love they have for their own.”
