It is going to be almost a year’s wait for the cricketing fraternity to see the return of MS Dhoni, the legendary former captain of India and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), into competitive cricket when IPL 2025 takes place. The World Cup-winning captain was recently spotted paying a visit to a temple in his hometown of Ranchi, adding to the excitement surrounding his return.

Dhoni visited the Maa Dewri Mandir, a popular temple in Ranchi, and a video of his visit quickly went viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In the video, Dhoni is seen surrounded by eager fans, all hoping for a glimpse of the iconic skipper. This is not the first time Dhoni has visited this temple; he also made a trip there in February last year, ahead of the IPL 2024 season.

Having led CSK to five IPL titles, Dhoni stepped down from his captaincy duties in the previous season but remains a key figure for the franchise. Though he’s been a part of every IPL season since its inception, the 43-year-old has acknowledged that the passing years are affecting his fitness.

“I’m not as fit as I was. There has to be a lot of effort there on what you are eating, and I’m doing very specific things to keep fit for cricket. We are not fast bowlers so our requirements are not as intensive. Between the right food, gym and sports, I find myself fit enough.” MS Dhoni spoke at an event recently.
