On the match’s front, Manish Pandey-led Karnataka 151/7 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Tamil Nadu skipper Vijay Shankar. Chasing the total, Tamil Nadu were steady at one point but they lost wickets in a cluster towards the end of their innings. Karnataka had the momentum going into the final two overs with 30 runs needed in 12 balls.

Shahrukh Khan kept his clam and looted 14 runs from the penultimate over. He scored an early boundary in the next over but things got tight towards the end. With five runs needed on the last ball, Shahrukh Khan went on to finish the game in MS Dhoni’s style with a six over deep square leg.

“There were a lot of things in my mind, but I tried to keep it simple. The ball was rough and the wicket was slow, so I wanted to connect it off the middle. I was waiting to hit it over long-on, and I got the room to get it over square leg,” Shahrukh Khan said after the win.
