The former Indian Captain is known for his blinding speed in taking off the bails while batsman’s foot is in the air for even a nanosecond. Dhoni is also famous for his various antics where he can crash the stumps even without looking at them. His coolness is a topic of discussion in every other match. Also, the cricket acumen that Dhoni boasts has been mentioned quite often.

Known as one of the shrewdest brains to play in the game, MSD is famous for his tactical fielding positions and manoeuvres. Dhoni’s most memorable run-out of Mustafizur in the World T20 Match against Bangladesh was a demonstration of his excellent thinking. His treatment of the bowlers in the death overs deserves a psychology book.

The latest incident that again gave us a glimpse of the sharp presence of mind of MS Dhoni, occurred in the match yesterday played at the MCA Stadium, Pune. Chennai Super Kings were asked to bat first and the pair of Watson-Du Plessis took them to a safe score. They set up a platform for the likes of Dhoni and Bravo to have a slog in the death overs.

MS Dhoni walked out at his batting position of number four. After a quiet start, he opened up and started lashing out at bowlers. With MSD in such a devastating mood, the bowlers took a backseat and tried containing him. The keeper was clever enough to not miss even a single opportunity to take a run. The incident in question happened very early in innings.

Dhoni was batting on 2*. He failed to hit Avesh Khan’s ball away. The ball fell near MSD’s legs and he scampered for a run. Khan ran towards the ball, picked it up and hurled it straight back at the Dhoni’s end. MS knowing that he will make it to the crease opted to save his back first. He extended his free hand and tried covering ailing back. Luckily the throw was wide and missed both Mahi and stumps.

The finisher changed his gears later and cruised to another stellar batting performance of recording his fastest fifty in the IPL. CSK ended up on the winning side by 13 runs.
