In the ongoing eighth match of IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl first, anticipating the impact of dew later in the innings. However, the highlight of the first innings wasn’t just the contest between bat and ball—it was MS Dhoni’s lightning-fast glovework that stole the show, sending Phil Salt back to the pavilion in a flash.

The moment unfolded in the fifth over, bowled by Noor Ahmad. On the final delivery, Salt attempted a lofted cover drive but missed the length ball completely. At first glance, it appeared that his foot remained grounded.

However, upon replay, it became evident that his toe had briefly lifted off the crease, just enough for MS Dhoni to strike. With barely a fraction of a second to react, Dhoni’s razor-sharp reflexes came into play as he whipped off the bails in what seemed like 0.10 seconds or less. The result? A brilliant yet short-lived knock of 32 runs for Salt.

At the toss, Gaikwad expressed confidence in CSK’s approach, stating, “The wicket should play slightly better than last game. We’re looking to chase whatever the target is. Dew is unpredictable, but we’ve planned better for it. We need to improve our fielding. One change: Pathirana replaces Ellis.”

RCB’s stand-in skipper Rajat Patidar shared his thoughts, saying, “We wanted to bowl as well, but the pitch looks hard, so it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. Our bowling unit showed great courage in the last match despite early struggles, and our openers played with intent. RCB vs CSK is always special because of the incredible fan support for both teams.”
With both sides geared up for a high-voltage clash, fans can expect a thrilling contest ahead.
