Throughout IPL 2023, speculations surrounding Dhoni’s retirement were among the major talking points, considering the stage of his cricketing career. In a post-match interview after the final, Harsha Bhogle asked Dhoni about his potential return for IPL 2024, to which the former Indian player responded that it would depend on his body and fitness at that time.
“Looking for an answer? Circumstantially if you see this is the best time for me to announce retirement. But the amount of love and affection that I have been shown, wherever I have been this year… I think the easy thing for me to say would be to say ‘Thank you very much,’ but the tough thing for me would be to work hard for nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL. But a lot depends on the body,” added MS Dhoni.
As Dhoni undergoes tests for his knee injury, fans eagerly await updates on his future plans and whether he will continue to grace the IPL with his presence in the upcoming seasons.
