Lucknow Super Giants’ latest debutant Matt Henry said that their wicket-taking abilities were the key in their eight-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in Lucknow on Friday (April 19). On a sluggish batting surface at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, CSK’s innings saw a great cameo by MS Dhoni at the back end. Henry, who made his debut in this game, lavished praise on LSG’s bowling unit as well.
“It (the pitch) was a bit on the slower side,” said Henry at the post-match press conference. “So the way the guys adapted to the surface, we did a really good job. The key was our ability to take wickets. KP and the spinners, the guys up top, to keep taking wickets and bowling to a fresh batter made a huge difference for us.”

Henry returned wicketless but he bowled well alongside Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur where they picked wickets in the Powerplay. While Mohsin cleaned up Rachin Ravindra very early in the innings, Thakur removed Ruturaj Gaikwad. Meanwhile, they have Mayank Yadav in their team who has featured in just two games but made headlines with his pace.
“I think coming here and meeting a lot of young guys, we got a lot of young quicks, it’s really exciting to see, no surprises to see the depth here in India. The skill set of these guys they have and the confidence to execute their plans under pressure is just incredible. The bowling group that I’m part of is awesome. Really enjoying it,” he concluded. “About our batting, there was an incredible knock, that opening partnership between Quinny and KL really changed the game for us. When you bat the way they did, the intent they showed, the batsmanship overall was world class. I suppose that was the difference on the day.”
