Former chief of the Indian selection committee, MSK Prasad has raised questions on the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He reckons that the selectors made a huge mistake by leaving Shikhar Dhawan and Krunal Pandya. Prasad believes that both these players should have got a chance in the squad. He said that India definitely miss Dhawan and Krunal during the T20 World Cup (Team India squad for T20 World Cup 2021).

MSK Prasad believes that Dhawan has experience and form with him, so he must have got a chance in the squad. Currently, teh southpaw is plying his trade for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 and he is the highest run-getter in the tournament. The Orange Cap of IPL is a century on his head. Dhawan has scored 422 runs in 9 matches so far in IPL 2021.

Dhawan’s batting average is 52.75 and his strike rate is also more than 131. Dhawan has 3 half-centuries with the bat. It is not that Dhawan has done well in the IPL this year. This left-handed batsman is scoring more than 400 runs for the last 6 seasons. In 2016, 2019, and 2020, Dhawan scored more than 500 runs.

Last year in IPL 2021, Shikhar Dhawan had amassed 618 runs and the team reached the final. He has scored more than 400 runs in IPL so far 8 times. However, despite that, the Indian selectors did not consider him fit for the T20 World Cup. Ishan Kishan has been given preference over Shikhar Dhawan, who is an opener as well as a wicketkeeper.

Surprisingly, R Ashwin has also got a place in the T20 World Cup team, who has not played T20 matches for India for the last four years. On the other hand, Axar Patel has got a chance in place of Krunal Pandya, who is showing his bowling power in the IPL.
