Sri Lanka’s talismanic bowler Muttiah Muralitharan defended team India’s loss to Australia at Mohali in the 4th ODI which brought the series to level by 2-2, after the loss the Indian team was criticised by Fans and especially the bowling unit for being unable to defend the huge total of 358.

Muralitharan came in stand for Team India and requested the fans to have patience. He commented “You have to be patient with the team. The Indian team has been doing really well and are trying to experiment with the World Cup around the corner. You will get failures on the road to success as there cannot be 11 Virat Kohli’s in the team. Not everyone can be a match-winner, he added you will win few of the matches and you will also lose few.

The fans have to be patient. The Indian players have done well and you cannot put too much pressure on them. This is a sport and there will be winners and losers. It is important to keep the pressure off the players as they must be allowed to focus on the game and that will bring the desired results,” Murali further said.

Also the all-time leading International wicket-taker commented on India’s Yuzvendra Chahal calling him a Champion bowler, commented: “Chahal is a champion bowler who is only a human and not a robot”.

He also mentioned that Chahal cannot pick fifer in each and every match and reminded everyone that he has bowled many match -winning spells and has contributed in many wins for India since he has started playing International cricket. Chahal did not have a good outing on the field against Australia as he gave 80 runs and managed to pick one wicket that also of the centurion Peter Handscomb.

It was a very nice gesture from the Lankan unorthodox spinner towards the Indian team and the fans should also understand his saying.
