Bangladesh made history as they registered a convincing series win against Australia at home with two games in hand. However, they are currently taking on each other in the five-match T20I series. While Bangladesh won 23 runs and 5 wickets respectively in the first two games, they managed to win the third one by 10 runs on the back of a stunning spell of Mustafizur Rahman, who conceded only 1 run in the penultimate over and helped his side win.

As far as the Australian team is concerned, they have been failing to win in the shortest format due to their poor form. And, prior to the mega event – T20 World Cup, this is definitely a much bigger concern for them now. Moreover, they haven’t managed to win a T20 World Cup since the beginning. Recently, they lost to West Indies in the T20I series by 1-4.

While Mustafizur Rahman finished with a figure of 4-0-9-0, Shoriful Islam claimed 2 wickets and they successfully restricted Australia within 117, whie chasing 128 in 20 overs. Mahmudullah scored a fifty and was happy the way the team performed as well.

He said: “Boys stood up during important times. It was incredible to see the boys fight today. When me and Shakib were batting, we wanted to bat till the 16th or 17th over as we thought it wouldn’t be easy for the new batter. We focussed on our process today and held it together. When we were about to enter the field, I wanted Shakib to have a word. All the bowlers did their homework. Mustafizur was brilliant tonight. We had a chat in Zimbabwe that we need to step up as we think we are a balanced side. We are a pretty decent side than the ranking suggests. We just need to be sensible while executing our skills.”

On the other hand, Matthew Wade said after losing: “Bowling has been really good, They have kept us in the game. We didn’t take our opportunity with the bat. Very disappointing. We know their overs have been challenging at the end our innings on these slow wickets. When the rate goes up to 8 on these wickets, it becomes very challenging. It is tough to close out the innings on these wickets. Funny game, it is. Nathan (Ellis) bowled well to get that.”

The final two T20I games will take place on August 7 and 9 respectively.
