Injuries and other commitments often disrupt the rhythm of players participating in India’s premier cricket extravaganza, the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the latest development, it has been revealed that star Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will be absent for the upcoming clash in the IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The fixture is scheduled to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 5, where Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rahman’s absence is attributed to his departure for Bangladesh to facilitate his US visa processing ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, slated to be held in the Caribbean and the United States in June. While CSK’s next match is on April 5, Rahman is expected to rejoin the squad between April 7-9.

Confirming Rahman’s situation, BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus stated, “Mustafizur arrived last night from the IPL for US visa purposes for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He will be giving his fingerprint at the US Embassy tomorrow (April 4) and later will travel back to India to join Chennai.”

It’s noteworthy that Rahman’s stint in the IPL will be limited until the end of April, as he is slated to join the Bangladesh squad for their five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe commencing on May 3.

Rahman’s absence in the upcoming fixture could pose a challenge for Chennai Super Kings. The gifted pacer has been a linchpin for his team in IPL 2024, leading the wicket-taking charts with seven scalps in three matches and currently donning the Purple Cap.

As Chennai Super Kings gear up to face Hyderabad, they aim for a resurgent performance, especially after suffering a defeat in their previous encounter against Delhi Capitals. Presently occupying the third spot in the standings with four points from three matches under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK seeks to clinch their third victory of the season as they travel to Hyderabad.
