Finally, South Africa’s own franchise T20 league is set to begin as the Mzansi Super League (MSL) is going to kick off on this Friday (November 16). The first edition of the tournament will be played from November 16 to December 16, 2018.

Apart from the most of South African cricketers, few famous overseas cricketers will also feature in this tournament like Rashid Khan (Afghanistan), Chris Gayle (Windies), Dwayne Bravo (Windies), Eoin Morgan (England), Samuel Badree (Windies), Jason Roy (England), Dawid Malan (England), Daniel Christian (Australia), Jeevan Mendis (Sri Lanka), Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Paul Starling (Ireland) etc.

With this T20 league, South Africa is ready to go one step ahead in the global cricket position. Prior to the beginning of this tournament, we are going through some important details of this tournament.

Mzansi Super League date: November 16 to December 16, 2018

Teams: Cape Town Blitz, Durban Heat, Jozi Stars, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, Paarl Rocks and Tshwane Spartans

Venues: Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Paarl and Centurion

Total no.of Matches: 32

Mzansi Super League format: Double round-robin and knockout. Each team will play twice against every other team in the home and away basis. At the end of the league stage, the top of the points table will directly reach to the final, while the second and the third-placed teams will meet in the eliminator and the winner of that game will reach to the final as the second team.

Winner: R 7 million

Runner-up: R 2.5 million

Player of the Tournament: R 100,000
