The second ODI between India and West Indies in Guwahati witnessed an early moment of drama when Naman Dhir produced a spectacular diving catch to dismiss Keacy Carty during the fifth over. West Indies were looking to build another strong opening partnership after a competitive performance in the first ODI. However, Prasidh Krishna provided India with an important breakthrough when he removed Carty, although the dismissal required confirmation from the third umpire.
Krishna bowled a short delivery outside the off-stump, prompting Carty to attempt an attacking lofted shot. However, the batter caught the ball off the leading edge, sending it towards the point region. Naman Dhir reacted quickly, threw himself into the air and completed an impressive diving catch before the ball could reach the ground.
The Indian players immediately celebrated the wicket, but there was some doubt over whether Dhir had managed to keep the ball completely off the turf. Neither the on-field umpire nor Carty appeared entirely convinced, leading to a referral to the third umpire.

Replays showed Dhir’s fingers positioned underneath the ball as he completed the catch. After reviewing the available angles, the third umpire confirmed the dismissal, leaving Carty disappointed as he walked back to the pavilion for 9 runs.

India made one change to their playing XI for the second ODI, handing a debut to Aqib Nabi while Nitish Kumar Reddy was left out. Captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first, giving India an opportunity to put pressure on the West Indies batting lineup with the new ball.
The early wicket gave India the start they wanted, while Dhir’s athletic effort at point added another highlight to an eventful opening phase in Guwahati.
