Navdeep Saini Gears Up For Test Series against New Zealand

India youngster fast bowler Navdeep Saini is excited about representing his country in the longer format of the game and he is only aiming to play well and win as many games as he can for Team India.

“I am happy to be playing at the highest level. Like every other player, it was also my dream which has now come true. I just want to carry on with my performances,” Navdeep Saini said during a conversation with his fellow teammate and pace spearhead Mohammed Shami.

So far, he has played for India in five One Day Internationals and 10 Twenty20 Internationals in which he has scalped 5 wickets and 13 wickets respectively. Navdeep Saini, who made his international debut last year during India’s West Indies tour, has also been included in the Test squad for the first Test and is all set to take on New Zealand in red-ball cricket. During the conversation for the BCCI TV, the 27-year-old youngster also revealed that he prefers the Punjabi language.

“I am very soft at heart. When it comes to language, I am very comfortable with Punjabi. I try to interact with my Indian teammates in Punjabi and they find it funny,” Saini shared in the video.

Moreover, he shared an unknown side of himself as well. He helps underprivileged children in whatever way possible. While he was asked about how he would help them, he shared how he does.

Saini said: “I will try to help them in every possible manner. I have provided financial aid, like providing them with kits to two-three children I have come across till now. I have faced similar situation in my childhood, so I know the hardships.”

As far as the current series is concerned, India whitewashed New Zealand in the five-match Twenty20 International series whereas faced the whitewash in the three-match One Day International series. Both the team will now play the two-match Test series, starting from February 21.
