Navjot Singh Sidhu Receives Falk For Commenting On Pulwama Attack

The former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan’s becoming the Prime Minister of his nation was quite an event in India. His political party had invited some of the former Indian cricketers to attend the oath taking ceremony. While a few cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev decided to reject the invitation, Navjot Singh Sidhu was the only one to accept the invitation and even go to Pakistan for the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan.

Sidhu’s actions were termed as offensive by most of the people in India. However, it was a brave move from him as he stressed the need for maintaining peace between the two countries. Moreover, the controversy was ignited further when the former Indian opener hugged the Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa during the event while Sidhu gave repeated explanations on the matter.

While Navjot Singh Sidhu’s intentions were to maintain peace between the neighboring countries, the terror attack on the Indian soldiers in Pulwama on Thursday has changed the dynamics upside down. More than 40 CRPF soldiers were massacred with the terrorist attack as the Indian people are mourning their death. Moreover, a lot of cricketers have expressed their anguish over the incident with Gautam Gambhir especially, fuming over the incident.

Amidst all the happenings, the social media is also flooded with the messages condemning Sidhu as the people are demanding to ban him. To make things worse, the cricketer turned Politician has further said that it is wrong to blame Pakistan after the attack which has increased the anger of the people.

As per the quotes in Economic Times, Sidhu said, “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished.”
