New Zealand has regained the top spot in the latest T20 International rankings after defeating West Indies in the third and final game of the series by 119 runs in Mount Maunganui. With this victory, they also secured the series by 2-0 and did a series clean sweep of their opponents.
Earlier, Pakistan was standing on number one with 124 points and New Zealand was at number three with 120 points, but this win helped them to leapfrog to numero uno position with 126 rating points. India, now, is ranked third with 121 points under their belt while West Indies survived their pre-series rankings (5th).
The Kiwi team registered a record win with the help of Colin Munro’s historic third T20I century and now he holds the record for most number of centuries in this format. New Zealand posted a mammoth total of 243/5, their highest, where dashing opener Martin Guptill contributed with a stroke-filled fifty.
The Caribbean team was never in the chase after giving two wickets away in the first over of the match and somehow reached to 124.
