The 12th edition of Indian Premier League has been going well for Mumbai Indian (MI). After a couple of losses, they are back into the front foot on the back of some brilliant performances from the players, especially from Hardik Pandya; whose heroics made the change in almost every game. Mumbai had won 18 games against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and lost six. However, Kolkata had registered a comfortable win by 34 runs over Mumbai yesterday at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Kolkata put up a huge total of 232 for 2 in their allotted overs. However, Mumbai also had a slow start but Hardik Pandya had some other plans. He came at number 6 and scored a blistering knock of 91 off 34 balls, including 9 sixes and 6 fours to keep Mumbai’s run-chase alive before his dismissal. This was one of his best knocks in recent times. However, he didn’t get any support from other batsmen in the middle. If he got the support, the result might have been different.

“We would have loved a couple of fewer wickets when Kieron (Pollard) and Hardik walked in. But, unfortunately, it didn’t happen today so there’s the collapse and no one batting with Hardik made it harder for us,” Quinton de Kock said in the post-match press conference. He fell for a duck in the second over yesterday.

“When you have to score of 233, you need to play one or two shots anyway. You have to try against any bowler who comes on and take a chance to get things going. So if I hit that ball for four or six, you probably would have said ‘great shot’ but unfortunately I got out so didn’t look,” he further added.
