Parthiv Patel Speaks Up On Surprising Team Meetings at CSK

Parthiv Patel recalled the 2008 campaign of the Indian Premier League when he was representing Chennai Super Kings. Parthiv was instrumental for the men in yellow helping them into the finals of the season.  The Indian wicket-keeper batsman shared how the team meeting before the finals was no longer than 2 minutes.

“Team meetings used to last for 2 minutes. In the 2008 final, the CSK team meeting led by Dhoni lasted for 2 minutes. I am sure it lasted for 2 minutes in 2019 also. Dhoni was always clear in what he wanted from his players. Dhoni was always clear about his team combinations and the role each player had to play in the squad,” Parthiv Patel said.

Parthiv raced up a 33 ball 38 in the finals of the 2008 season of IPL. Recalling it, He mentions how Rajasthan Royals were not considered underdogs by CSK.

“The RR team in the 2008 season played like a group of 11 players. It was never a team of individuals and that is why we took them seriously. They were never the underdogs,” Parthiv said.

Parthiv Patel shares the things has learned while plying his trade for the Chennai based IPL franchise. He speaks on how the senior players at CSK  during his early days at IPL helped the wicketkeeper-batsman. He said, “I learned a lot in 2008 from watching players like Michael Hussey, Stephen Fleming, and Mathew Hayden, how they get ready for big matches and how they prepare.”
